Few people realize that Hurricane Ida is the second most destructive hurricane to hit Louisiana, after Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Eta hit on August 29, 2021, two years ago, this month, and 16 years after Hurricane Katrina, to the day. The destruction to Lutheran Church of the Galilean in LaPlace, Louisiana, was considerable. Even as of last year, when some Synod Council members paid a visit, repairs were still under way.

Today was a resurrection of sorts, for a congregation that was also flooded in Hurricane Isaac in 2012, and other times. Isaac Post. Isaac Update.

The flood mural is ironic, to say the least, given the fact that Galilean has flooded three times!
