Galilean update 11/25/12

Last week Cecelia and I traveled for Thanksgiving and one of our stops was to see my brother in Huntsville, AL. While there we realized the Rainsville Church Pew Co was on the route to our next stop so I called Jamey Jones, the owner of the pew co and asked for a tour. Mr Jamey agreed and so we went to see the factory floor where our pews are, and where they are going to be refinished. We were amazed at seeing one of the largest pew factories in the US. Mr Jamey graciously gave us an hour of his time and showed us his plant and our old pews.

When they picked our wet pews up they disassembled them and trucked them to Rainsville AL. I had told them to take their time since we don’t want them back till the floors are done in the sanctuary. The pew co has done some work on parts of them, and they have built our new communion rails. Mr Jamey says he can finish them in 3 days with a phone call when we are ready. He has an unbelievable amount of large machinery and 25 workers.

The factory is large, maybe 100,000 sq feet? and is run by the 3rd and 4th generation pew makers. They make any kind of church furnishings and can refinish anything made of wood.

It was a good stop for us because we now know our pews are in good hands! See Rainsvillepew.com for more pictures.
