Saturday, March 7, 2026. This weekend was the joyful celebration of Kate Dentler and Anthony Rios’ wedding at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top Texas. We don’t have the photos yet. I’ll add them later, but here are some candid shots I took.
I’ve known the Dentler family for 25 years, a quarter of a century, having baptized Kate in 2001, along with her sister Megan, and her father Marty, may he rest in peace.
Kate and Anthony were married today at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. Bethlehem was founded in 1866. The church was built in 1867, making it the oldest still-standing Lutheran church building in continuous use in Texas. The church has a limestone exterior. The interior, floor and pews, are all cedar. Even the organ was built in 1867, with cedar pipes. Here’s some history.
After the rehearsal, the families headed to Boon and Company in Round Top for a festive supper.
On Saturday, the nuptial service was held in English and Spanish, with Holy Communion. The day began with a festive start.
Our organist was Denna Harden, who provided the prayer squares for St. Paul and who plays at Waldeck Lutheran.
Jackie, Council President at Bethlehem made sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.
Following the service, we took the obligatory photos.
The reception was a blast. Lots of new friends from all over.
New to me was the “beer burro,” but I’m fully supportive. 🙂
It was an honor to meet Abbie Kamin, Houston City Council civil rights attorney drinking for Harris County Attorney, for whom the bride works. Lots of political conversations at the reception.
