An interim, the time between pastors, is liminal space. One chapter of ministry has ended, but the next chapter has yet to begin. liminal space is like the borderlands. It can be chaotic, but it is also a time of great possibility, a time to reimagine the future. God shows up in the wilderness.

This morning we talked about dreams, Jacob’s ladder on the border between heaven and earth, and Jacob wrestling with the angel, on the border between Canaan and Israel. Dreams are important. God shows up.

We met with a potential interim this morning and talked through some challenges. The congregation is deeply rooted in this community. Their weekly community table meals, their affordable, housing projects, and the lighthouse project. They have a lot going on.

I love these committed leaders.
