With great love and compassion, mourners gathered at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, Texas to remember the life of Tony Martinez, to celebrate their hope for the resurrection, to engage in a little irreverent humor, and to support his grieving husband, Pastor Marvin Havard, along with Tony’s, mother, Esmeralda, and other family members.
Tony was a gifted musician and composer. He served as a chorus member of the Houston Grand Opera for over 25 seasons. He was the chorus rep for the local chapter of the American Guild of musical artists. He was Music Director at St. Martin’s Lutheran in Church in Sugar Land and House of Prayer Lutheran in Church in Houston. The music was incredible, including one of Tony’s own compositions, based on a prayer by Thomas Cranmer.
