Ruach International Church is a congregation started by Pastors Roland and Leemu Deddeh. They are a Synod Authorized Worshipping Community discerning becoming ELCA. Approximately half the congregation identify as Liberians and the other half African American. Their kids play in the band.
Ruach worships at Messiah Lutheran Church in Cypress, Texas, who have offered their space at no cost for the last four years. Additionally, while they discern being part of the ELCA, they are receiving modest financial support from the Gulf Coast Synod mission fund. Because of this collaboration, Pastor Brad’s nonprofit, Acts of Wisdom, which has invested over $600,000 in schools in Ethiopia, has now begun work in Liberia, after a trip that Pastor Roland Deddeh and Pastor Brad Otto took together.

For Black History Month, three people gave short historical presentations on the contributions of notable African Americans.

Gift-giving is a common and beautiful pattern in the African tradition.
