Pastor Beth Warpmaeker leading a Holy Land trip. Pastor Warpmaeker served her internship at Redeemer Lutheran in Jerusalem, so she knows this context exceptionally well.

Pastor Beth’s trip is June 4-17, 2024, with an optional post-tour to Jordan: June 17-20.

Besides the trip that Pastor David Hansen and I are reading, I also see that Pastor Jay Grave of St. John’s in Bellville is also leading a pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage

Lots of opportunities to go!

Here’s why these trips are important.

We spend our lives reading the stories of Abraham and Sarah, Moses and King David. We read about Jesus at the sea of Galilee and Paul’s missionary journeys across Turkey and Greece. Visiting gives us a deeper, more authentic understanding and appreciation of the Bible story.

Additionally, we’re here so many things about the conflict in the Holy Land: Israelis, Palestinians, Christians, Muslims, Jews. The situation is complex and usually misunderstood. Going there allows us a more realistic picture of the facts on the ground.

Most of us cannot afford to travel to these places regularly, but many people save to go once in their lifetime. It is a faith pilgrimage.

If this is something that is meaningful to you, I hope you’ll consider going on one of these trips.
