Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) invites you and your congregations to sign up and participate in an interfaith 40 Days of Fasting, Prayer and Action for immigration reform. This national initiative is part of an interfaith coalition effort to encourage the U.S. Congress after the August recess to pass compassionate immigration reform legislation that reflects American values and honors the God-given dignity and right of every individual.
The 40 Days Fast Action for Immigration Reform starts the Sunday after Labor Day and lasts from September 8 to October 18.It is an opportunity for faith communities to come together and make our voices heard on what is perhaps the most important civil and human rights issue of the day.
You can find more information and register for the action at http://fastaction.us/en/. Information in Spanish is also available,http://fastaction.us/es/
Please join us and other faith communities across the country as we pray, fast and advocate to change our broken immigration system. Your commitment and action can make a real difference in the lives of millions of God’s children who happen to be undocumented.
