My family and I were victims of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. We found ourselves staying in a flooded-out hotel. Each morning we were given a liter of water and a sandwich. Really, all we cared about was the water. After a short while, with very little food, I did notice that my mind became very clear and focused. Survival? Who knows.
As time goes by and mainline churches continue to fall by the wayside, you may find that Catholic practices are based on sound principles and truth, as shown by this article. You mentioned the largest and fastest growing Lutheran church in Texas, Santa Maria de Guadalupe in Dallas. Why do you think people (mostly Mexican immigrants, I would guess) are attracted to this church? Ultimately, it is because of the mass and the Sacraments. BTW — I must ask this — do Lutherans accept the Apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe? Is it now acceptable to pray to her for intercession? What does the pastor of Sta. Maria teach?
