Funeral today of a dear neighbor at St. Mary’s Catholic in Plantersville, Texas. It is the most beautiful church in the area. This 1917 church is on of the “painted” churches. It replaced an 1800’s church the burned down.
Father Ed is a sweet man, with impeccable taste and a sense of history. He has shepherded the renovations, discovering many old pieces in storage, and incredible lettering and artwork that had been painted over. Most of the painting is original, restored.
Note the German at the base of the altar. There is a Polish Catholic Church six miles down the road that Father Ed also serves.
