The New Orleans/Baton Rouge pastors meet at Our Savior’s Baton Rouge. After rocket shrimp, boudin balls, and pecan brownies with gnosh, Pastor and Dr. Walt Ehrhardt presented on how people operate out of an unconscious and uncritically assumed worldview, and how that operation affects pastor/parishoner dynamics and congregational conflict, anxiety, anger, etc.

Spirituality consists nit only of beliefs, but emotions, coping skills, sense of humor, self-care, gender identity, sense of control, sense of self-worth. People have some basic spiritual needs: certainty, variety, significance connection/love, growth, contribution (to give).

Most stressors are relationship-related. If big stressors are not dealt with, most people will far a major medical issue within a year. Many people project their stress onto the pastor.

On another matter, the Gulf oil spill, the southern Louisiana pastors say: “This is not a disaster for volunteers, yet. The best thing people can do to support us is to come to the Gulf Coast and spend money.
