I had the privilege of preaching and presiding in Shelby and Round Top today. Both St. Paul and Bethlehem are served by Pastor John David Nedbalek, who is 22 years into his first call (Round Top) and nine years serving Shelby.

St. Paul In Shelby, Texas
St. Paul was founded as Die Deutsche Evangelische Lutherische Saint Paulus Gemeinde in 1903. They worshipped in German for nearly 50 years. Men sat on the left and women on the right. (Not anymore.) Once a year they worship in their previous building.
St. Paul was birthed when Friedens Gemeinde in Roedersmuehle/Peace Lutheran in Roeder’s Mill (founded in 1876) closed.
Bethlehem, Round Top, Texas
The cornerstone for Bethlehem was laid in 1866. Is there an older Lutheran church building in Texas, that is still used? History of Bethlehem Round Top.
