What a sad photo. Our dear friend, Annette Citzler (former Augsburg Fortress Board Chair) and her family are in our thoughts and prayers, as are all those whose lives are being affected by these terrible fires. Blessings, Beth Lewis

Dear Bishop Rinehart and saints of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod,

Your sisters and brothers in Christ in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod (Metro Philadelphia area) are praying the fires die, the winds subside, and that rains will quench the scorched earth and bring relief to your profound suffering. This week at our synod staff meeting, at the Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia chapel, and on our synod website, petitions to our Lord and Savior were raised on your behalf for increased assistance and release from your pain, fear and exhaustion. We are following the news, thinking of all of you, and continuing to pray for all who are suffering as a result of natural disasters. Here in Pennsylvania we are struggling with flooding, as are sister synods in New Jersey, New York and New England.
Lord have mercy… Christ have mercy…Lord have mercy.

    With and in Christ,

+ Claire S. Burkat, Bishop Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, ELCA
